These changes will be put in place to support Western Sydney’s booming population, with one million people expected to call Western Sydney home in the next 20 years.

Train trips to and from the Western Suburbs are also set to grow up to 20 per cent by 2022, advocating the need for immediate change.

The number of trains stopping at Parramatta will be boosted by 40 per cent, with weekly services to Penrith increasing by more than 20 per cent.

There will be a new direct link between the Inner West and Parramatta via the T2 Inner West line on weekdays for the first time, servicing Harris Park, Granville, Clyde, Auburn and Lidcombe during peak hour.

Additionally, Western Suburbs commuters can expect double the T1 Western Line services on weekends and late at night, meaning trains run every 15 minutes between Penrith and Doonside, as well as more trains on weekends for Blacktown, Seven Hills, Westmead and Parramatta.

For those commuting to the Sydney CBD from Seven Hills during peak hour, there are four additional AM trains meaning a service every 3-4 minutes. There will also be more AM services for Penrith, Kingswood and Werrington, with a service every seven and a half minutes. More AM and PM services will also be actioned for St Marys and Mount Druitt, with a service every six minutes, instead of today’s seven and a half minute wait time.

Some travellers will also experience quicker commute times, saving up to seven minutes for Toongabbie and Wentworthville in non-peak periods on weekdays.

The improvements will be delivered as part of a new train timetable introduced on Sunday 26 November. Customers should visit transportnsw.info for more information.
