IF THERE is one thing you shouldn't bring with you to Brisbane, it's a full stomach because you're going to need all the room you can get.
Food is something this city doesn’t do by halves, especially if you attempt a T-Bone at Blackbird which feeds four people, so come hungry, leave the size of a house… just kidding, but you will leave incredibly satisfied.
If you’re only in town for a weekend, no sweat, here’s a sure-fire way to cover off some of the best in culinary goodness Brisbane bas to offer!
Here is your 48-hour food guide to eating your way around Brisbane:
Day 1
Breakfast: Indulge in some eggs benny at Artie & Mai, rumoured to do it best in the whole city.
Coffee: Bellissimo is a must for a cup of the hot stuff.
Lunch: If it’s a wings and beer kind of day, then head to Newstead Brewing Co for some buffalo wings. Be prepared to get messy and don’t even think about wearing white.
Snack: Cheeky afternoon sweets? Doughnut Time has your name written all over it. Try the Nutella doughnut if you feel the urge for an ocean of hazelnut spread to dance on your tastebuds (don’t we all?).
Dinner: Sashimi lovers rejoice – this is your haven. Sake is the place to indulge in melt-in-your-mouth sashimi, and you’re going to want something light for what we have planned next…
Dessert: Have a #yolo moment and get yourself to Bacchus for a dessert degustation. That’s five courses of sweet heaven. We told you to eat a light dinner.
Day 2
Breakfast: The best smashed avo in Brisbane (with grilled halloumi, coriander and tomato salsa tahini sumac labne, zaatar and pomegranate) is found at Pablo in New Farm.
Coffee: Grab a cappuccino from Kin & Co at Teneriffe. They not only change their blend as often as you should change your underpants, but they opt for chocolate shavings instead of powder which will kind of blow your mind.
Lunch: The Fat Pho from Fat Noodle will likely be up there with the best Pho you ever try. Chef Luke Nguyen’s signature beef broth is cooked for 20 hours and served in a bowl bigger than your face.
Snack: Down a Kiss the Berry acai bowl if you’re feeling something fruity, and this place does them the best.
Dinner: Beccofino is a must if you’re feeling like some Italian. We recommend the prosciutto pizza (ask for rocket on top) and one of the many pastas to share to get the best of both worlds.
Dessert: Three words…Chester Street Bakery. Let the menu blow your mind with insane milkshakes, cakes and everything sweet and delightful. Or, head down the road to La Macelleria for a gelato experience you’ll be raving about for weeks.
