Supermarket chain Aldi launches new ALDImania streetwear range

Exclusive: Aldi’s one-off clothing lines and sales are the stuff of mayhem and legend.

But for the first time it is debuting its own range of affordable fashion, with the launch of new streetwear exclusively made and produced by the German supermarket giant.

The collection – dubbed ALDImania — will feature 23 items, all under $20 – including slides ($7.99), bucket hats and beanies ($7.99), fleece hoodies ($14.99), and white sneakers ($19.99).

The range will hit the middle aisles on April 13.

“We have been offering our shoppers high-quality, affordable loungewear for years, but this is the first time we’ve brought our own brand of leisurewear to the middle aisles,” Aldi Australia’s Buying Director for ALDImania, Belinda Grice, said.

“Designed to celebrate and champion our shoppers, this new range is made specifically with Aldi budgets in mind, without compromising on quality or comfort.

“This unique collection that contains sustainably sourced or recycled materials, has been crafted to create a mix-and-match aesthetic, so customers can inject their own sense of styling around the range.”

The supermarket chain’s previous clothing sales – specifically its annual ski clearance – have garnered so much interest it has been forced to hire hundreds of security guards to manage the rush of customers.

Earlier this month, Aldi was blocked in NSW from selling booze at its largest northern rivers supermarket over concerns it could cause “detrimental” impacts on the community.

NSW Police and NSW Health also objected to the proposal due to potential impacts on the region’s rising rates of crime and alcohol-related abuse.

Aldi’s proposal for the store included setting aside a small 49 sqm section of the store to stock and display unrefrigerated alcohol products including beers, wines, spirits and ‘special buys’.

The limited-edition ALDImania range is only available while stocks last.
