Family-oriented, community-minded, passionate and proud; the Greystanes Rugby League Club have been nurturing their “little devils” since 1979.

Boasting a community mindset which sees A-Grade players coach juniors, juniors running bottles of water out for seniors, mum’s playing in the Women’s team and siblings forming the “Devilettes” cheerleading squad, the junior rugby league club is strong due to its solid support network.

Expecting dedication and commitment from all its member has led to victories both on and off the field. On field, teams train hard, developing player skill and experience, which has led to six teams in the finals last season and two taking out the premiership. Off field, the club has raised an average of $5000 at their annual charity events, with local SUPA IGA Merrylands, donating $3,111 in the past twelve months as part of their IGA Community Chest. Donating funds to support local communities, charities or other worthwhile causes, IGA Community Chest raises money through the purchase of products with an IGA Community Chest logo on the label or ticket. A percentage of this purchase is then credited to that store’s “Chest” account.

“None of this would be made possible without the support of our sponsors such as IGA,” says Colin Eisenhuth, President of Greystanes Deviles Junior Rugby League Club. “Unlike some clubs, we don’t have the backing of a large League Club to subsidise our expenses. IGA has given us $17,500 over the past five years, for which we are so grateful. Contribution from IGA has enabled us to keep our registration fees much lower than other clubs in the district.

“This enables playing Junior Rugby League to be more financially accessible to many families – especially those with multiple children.”

In addition, funding from IGA has given the JRLFC the financial support it needed to reward all their players. “Sponsorship supports the cost of presentation day,” Colin adds. “In the last few days, we’ve been able to give every junior a trophy. This is not the norm in many other JRLFC’s. As our club grows, so does the need for equipment and supplies. Again, the support of sponsors like IGA has enabled us to develop and meet the needs of our increasing number of players.”

This is similar to the support shown for Caloundra Little Athletics, by their local SUPA IGA Princes .  Run by volunteers to support athletics coaching for kids (from their Tiny Tots program through to U16 year olds), IGA donated $1,115 last year , funding new equipment and running costs of the program.
