I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here host Julia Morris learned she had ADHD when she was 56
Comedian and TV host Julia Morris has revealed she has been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder aged 56, describing it as an “intense journey”.
Comedian and TV host Julia Morris has opened up for the first time about her ADHD diagnosis.
Morris became emotional after revealing how she came to terms with the neurobiological disorder at age 56.
“Look, comics are very, very honest,’’ Morris said.
“But even I have not talked about being diagnosed in July last year, which at 56 was super confronting.
“I have not talked about that publicly.
“It’s taken an intense journey to try and find, oh my God, (going) back through my brain.
“And that happened and that happened and oh, that’s ADHD.
“That’s not me being pushy or a show off or any of that sort of stuff. It’s just the way the brain works.”
Morris spoke on the subject after watching I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! camp mates Sigrid Thornton and Geraldine Hickey discuss their shared diagnosis with ADHD.
She said she was shaking and trying not to cry.
“I love hearing those women talking about ADHD on the television,’’ Morris said.
“I love that my children will be home watching these celebrities because it does mean there are going to be children and adults at home going: God, I think that way.
“It’s not a hyperactivity thing. The hyperactivity is inside your brain. It’s not an inattentive thing. It’s all inside your brain.
“And I loved hearing Sigrid talk about her friends.
“Oh my God, my friends that have gone by the wayside ‘cause they just gave up on ever getting a return message.
“So it’s great to hear some of those exact things talked about. I think it helps.”
