American popstar FINNEAS says he doesn’t understand the people of Brisbane
An American popstar has slammed Brisbane locals after they booed at one of the city’s most famous landmarks.
An American popstar has called out the people of Brisbane just two weeks after he performed in the city, admitting they were confusing.
Singer-songwriter, producer and brother of pop sensation Billie Eilish, FINNEAS, has revealed his confusion behind why Brisbane residents “hate their own city”.
In an interview posted to Buzzfeed Australia’s Instagram, FINNEAS said the confusion arose after he mentioned South Bank at his Fortitude Valley concert earlier this month, where the crowd proceeded to boo.
“The people in Brisbane hate the city of Brisbane and I don’t understand what the fuss is all about, I’ve had a great time,” he said.
“We went to this place in Brisbane called South Bank which has this, like, big public pool and I told the guys in the band, I was like, I’m going to bring it up at the show tomorrow and they’re going to boo.
“And they did.”
The musician continued to say how “silly” it was for the locals to “boo something awesome about your own city”.
In the interview FINNEAS also admitted Brisbane was not his favourite city in the country.
“I’m not on the hate train, but I don’t know if I can say it’s my favourite city in Australia,” he said.
“I also like it here in Sydney, I also like it in Melbourne, I like it in Adelaide. I’ve got no problem with Australia, I think it’s a great, great place.”
