Lizzo has added extra Sydney and Melbourne shows ahead of general tickets going to sale after her Special tour pre-sales sold out in record time.

The Grammy-winning pop superstar will play a second show at Melbourne‘s Rod Laver Arena on July 18 and Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on July 24, on either side of her Splendour In The Grass headlining performance.

The About Damn Time chart slayer has been a favourite of Australian pop fans since her first visit here in January 2020 where her electric performances and body positive messages struck a resounding chord.

She has remained a fixture on the ARIA charts since with hits including Good As Hell, Rumours and 2 Be Loved (Am I Ready).

Tickets for all shows on the Special tour, which will feature amazing Australian pop and hip hop artist Tkay Maidza, go on sale from 11am on March 29.

Lizzo captured the hearts of Australian fans when she was here for her first tour in January 2020 for the FOMO festival and side shows.

Since then, Melissa Jefferson aka Lizzo has become a global pop culture icon.

She not only streams in the billions with recent albums Cuz I Love You and Special but is also a respected television producer whose Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls reality talent search picked up an Emmy and has been renewed for a second season.

Lizzo was in shock at the Grammy Awards last month when she took out coveted Record of the Year trophy for About Damn Time from a stacked field including her mates Adele, Harry Styles and Beyonce.

Her Australian tour will kick off Perth’s RAC Arena on July 14, followed by Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne on July 17 and Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on July 23.

Splendour organisers have yet to confirm which night Lizzo will headline ahead of the first release of tickets for the 2023 festival.

The pop queen’s tour comes as more rumours swirl about big international acts readying announcements for their returns to Australian stages including the much-anticipated Eras Tour by Taylor Swift.

But it was the news that a Depeche Mode tour to Australia, their first in 30 years, is about to be confirmed which had the band trending on Twitter on Tuesday.

Other tour announces Australian fans are hanging out for include Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Miley Cyrus and The Cure.
