Traffic banks up for 12km as emergency crew tries to free trapped truck driver

A major highway north of Brisbane has ground to a halt for 12km as rescue crews worked to free a trapped truck driver.

Commuters travelling north on the Bruce Highway near Caboolture in Queensland are stuck in a 12km queue after a truck driver rolled during peak-hour traffic.

It is not known why the truck rolled and crossed into bushland off the highway.

The driver was freed from the vehicle around 8.30am after emergency services worked for some time to cut them out.

Two northbound lanes are blocked, with delays of more than an hour expected as traffic congestion stretches back 12km.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible or leave extra time.
