Radio host Erin Molan reveals details of fallout with PM Anthony Albanese
The media personality said she tried to get back in touch with the well-known man multiple times but has been left on read.
Radio host and TV presenter Erin Molan has opened up about why her friendship with the prime minister has fizzled out.
The daughter of late Liberal senator Jim Molan said she had developed a fond friendship with Anthony Albanese during his election campaign.
She has now opened up about being ghosted by the PM after a recent edition of her Daily Telegraph column titled: “Trust me Albo it’s over, I’m breaking up with you” was published.
“I didn’t write that headline,” she said on 2 DAY FM’s Hughesy, Ed & Erin breakfast show on Wednesday.
“If you actually read my column it says the Labor government and it says, ‘Yes, I’m breaking up with you.’
“You try writing a political column every two weeks and finding something where you’re not trying to offend people.”
Molan and co-host Dave “Hughesy” Hughes joked about their efforts to befriend Albanese before he became the most powerful man in the country.
“And we invested so much into him when he was nothing, to ensure that we would get access to him when he was something and I’ve now completely screwed it,” Molan said.
“Albo, we made you and we can break you,” Hughesy added.
While she defended the column saying it was not targeted at Albanese, she said she has not heard back from the leader since it was published – despite a chain of one-sided text messages.
She sent him a video message, and got nothing back.
She then sent a screenshot of an article where she had written something complimentary about him and once again got no reply.
She then sent him a clip of her show “Erin” where she defended him against accusations before finally sending him a text saying, “I feel like a stalker”.
He has not replied in almost three months and has refused to appear on the show.
When asked if she would apologise she said: “No, I’m not going to apologise, why would I apologise, there is nothing in my article that is wrong.”
“Surely, he could not be that sensitive to a stupid article, a column about tax stuff that doesn’t even impact people.”
The Prime Minister last appeared on the Hughesy, Ed & Erin show in September 2022.
