High performance car seized by cops after owner allegedly spotted speeding

The owner of a luxury high performance car allegedly spotted speeding by police on a highway will be without it for the next 28 days.

The Lamborghini Aventador was seized after its owner was allegedly spotted driving it at 155kmph in a 100 zone on Reid Highway.

A car worth more than three quarters of a million dollars has been seized by police after its owner was allegedly spotted driving more than 50km/h above the speed limit.

At about 12.55pm on Saturday, January 28, a Lamborghini Aventador was allegedly spotted driving at 155km/h in a 100 zone on Reid Hwy through Malaga, in Perth’s northern suburbs.

The same car was spotted driving on Stirling Hwy in Peppermint Grove on Friday and was stopped on Fairlight St, Mosman Park.

The Lamborghini Aventador was seized after its owner was allegedly spotted driving it at 155km/h in a 100 zone on Reid Highway.

The price of the vehicle ranges between $789,809 and $825,914, depending on the model.

The Lamborghini was impounded for 28 days, while the 48-year-old man who owns the vehicle will be charged by summons with “reckless driving exceed the speed limit by 45km/h or more on a length of road,” according to a WA Police statement.

The North Fremantle man is due in Midland Magistrates Court on April 26.

According to carsguide.com.au, the 2023 Lamborghini Aventador is valued at $789,809 for the basic trim level Coupe Aventador S, while the top-range convertible Aventador S will set you back $825,914.
