2019 Royal Melbourne Show sheep competition: O’Loghlin Wiltshire Horn stud takes out feature breed supreme
Deniliquin Wiltshire Horn stud O’Loghlin took out the champion ram and ewe and Supreme exhibit category for the this year’s feature breed.
SEVEN certainly was a lucky number for O’Loghlin Wiltshire Horns.
The Deniliquin-based stud cleaned up at the Royal Melbourne Show in this year’s feature sheep competition.
Exhibitor Jason O’Loghlin has been making the trek down from Deniliquin to the show since 2013 and had taken out supreme exhibit each year since.
His stud claimed the grand champion ram and ewe and supreme champion for the Wiltshire Horns breed on the weekend.

Mr O’Loghlin said it had been a long time coming for the animals to gain some recognition.
“We worked at getting them as the feature breed for a couple of years,” he said. “There’s not a lot of awareness about them and there’s a lot more than people realise.”
His many sashes, which he said were being made into a blanket, have come as a result of finetuning their animals through collecting information.
“I think we got a bit lucky in first few years but now it’s progressed.
“We’ve been doing data collection and scanning all the animals for the past seven years and it’s paying dividends,” he said.
The ewe that took out Supreme Wiltshire Horn exhibit was just a year old, and the judges remarked on her natural stance.
“Her correctness stood out. The judge said he picked her out from the start and knew she was a winner,” Mr O’Loghlin said.
