RECORD prices for young cattle continue to rise, breaking price records set yesterday.

The Eastern Young Cattle Indicator today reached 778c/kg, a 2c/kg lift on the 776c/kg recorded on Thursday and a 269.25c/kg lift on the 508.75c/kg recorded same time last year.

The EYCI previously broke price records in early June, when the indicator reached 772c/kg.

The EYCI has reached unprecedented highs throughout the course of this year, first surpassing the 760c/kg mark in March.

Prices have remained strong in recent months, despite ongoing coronavirus volatility and recent changes to Victorian meat processing plant workforce capacity.

More to come.
