Farmer of the Year winner Argyle Prestige Meats and Manildra Group donate $600,000 to drought appeal
THE Weekly Times Coles Farmer of the Year winner Argyle Prestige Meats is helping drought-affected farmers.
A WEEK after winning The Weekly Times Coles Farmer of the Year, Argyle Prestige Meats has thrown a lifeline to drought-affected farmers.
Argyle Prestige Meats, of Harden, NSW, joined forces with its business partner the Manildra Group and MSM Milling to last week to donate $600,000 to the We’re for the Bush drought appeal set up to support farmers in parched NSW and Queensland.
Argyle managing director Lachie Graham said the money would buy fodder for hungry livestock and provide food vouchers for families.
Farmers were Manildra’s biggest suppliers, so the company wanted “to give something back”, he said.
“It is also a bit of a call to corporate Australia to get behind these farmers who are doing it tough.”
