Norco signs deal with Coles to expand its offerings in NSW and Queensland supermarkets
NSW-based dairy co-operative Norco has inked a new deal with supermarket giant Coles. Here’s what the new processor-retailer arrangement means for farmers.
NORCO is set to boost its branded white milk volume with Coles by more than 20 per cent following a deal with the supermarket giant announced today.
The deal will give Norco an increased presence in 390 stores across NSW and Queensland,
with an anticipated upswing in demand by 4.7 million litres.
Norco chief executive Michael Hampson said the Coles deal was a shot in the arm for the co-operative heading into the new year.
“Norco is a 100 per cent Australian farmer-owned dairy cooperative,” he said.
“So this deal will continue to provide our farmers with the support and confidence to continue investing in their properties, contribute to building the stability of the Norco business and in turn support our local communities through what have been some of the toughest times the dairy industry has seen in recent years.”
Norco recorded an operating profit of $5.4 million on a turnover of about $680 million for the 2019-20 financial year.
The co-operative’s annual report showed its branded milk accounted for $154.7 million in milk sales last financial year, representing an overall growth rate of 15.9 per cent.
