Camperdown Cheese Company to sell factory site
THE Campderdown dairy factory site in the Western District town is up for sale.
THE Campderdown dairy factory site in the Western District town is up for sale.
The 5.98 hectare site on the western end of Manifold St has been placed on the market by Camperdown Cheese Company, owned by Mary Bevilacqua.
The site includes the dairy factory leased by Australian Dairy Nutritionals Group.
That factory covers about 20-25 per cent of the site. There is also a rural supplies business operating at the rear of the property.
Collectively, they generate annual income of about $150,000.
Australian Dairy Nutritionals Group chief executive Peter Skene said his company’s lease had some time to run and there was an opportunity for an extension.
Mr Skene said the group planned to develop a 4ha site on the north side of Camperdown and would eventually relocate there, taking the equipment at the Manifold St factory.
Real estate firm CBRE has been engaged to market the Manifold St site.
CBRE’s head of agribusiness, Danny Thomas, said the property “represented an outstanding opportunity to develop a world class dairy processing operation in Australia’s milk processing hub”. He said there was also an opportunity to develop a farm supplies hub on the site.
“With existing approvals in place for the development of a powdered milk and infant formula production facility, we expect widespread interest from existing dairy industry participants,” Mr Thomas said.
Expressions of interest in the site close on April 18 at 4pm.
