Millah Murrah Angus sells bulls for record Australian Angus price of $160,000
An Angus stud from Bathurst in NSW has continued its dominance with high prices at their spring bull sale.
MILLAH Murrah Angus stud has smashed the record Australian Angus bull price — again — selling a bull for $160,000 at their annual spring bull sale today.
The stud based near Bathurst, NSW, is owned and operated by Ross and Dimity Thompson and family. They sold a bull for the previous Australian Angus record for $150,000 in 2015.
The $160,000 bull, Millah Murrah Paratrooper P15, is 19-months-old and sired by US sire, EF Commando.
He weighs 840kg and has a scrotal circumference of 42cm and was reportedly purchased by Oldfield Angus stud from Western Australia.
Paratrooper has Estimated Breeding Value figures of +5.5sq cm for eye muscle area, compared to the breed average of +5.1sq cm, +2.5mm for intra-muscular fat, compared to the breed average of +1.7mm, and 200-day weight of +54kg, compared to the breed average of +44kg.
Millah Murrah also holds the record average for a bull production sale, selling 109 bulls for an average of $16,348 in 2016.
At last year’s sale they sold all 102 bulls for an average of $15,843.
