A 21-month-old heifer has sold for $190,000, the highest price paid for a beef female in Australia.
Millah Murrah Prue M4 was described in the sale catalogue as “one of the best animals we have ever bred”, out of donor female Millah Murrah Prue F141 and by Coonamble Hector H249.
The heifer was pregnancy tested in calf to Millah Murrah Proceed L237, and was purchased by Brooklana Angus stud at Brooklana, via Dorrigo, NSW.
Millah Murrah’s female sale was labelled by the stud before it was held as its “biggest event in history”, and indeed it proved to be.
The sale achieved a total clearance of the 234 females offered, averaging $13,709, and breaking the record for an Angus female not once but twice, when the second highest priced lot went for $54,000.
That was Millah Murrah Prue H112, purchased by East West Angus stud, Murwillumbah, NSW.
