Sad Travis Kelce footage goes viral as Chiefs star contemplates immediate retirement
Travis Kelce made next to no impact in the Chiefs’ shock Super Bowl defeat as new footage emerges of his absolute horror show.
Travis Kelce’s Super Bowl 2025 game tape wasn’t the prettiest.
The star Chiefs tight end finished with just four catches for 39 yards during Kansas City’s 40-22 blowout loss to the Eagles, but the eye test reveals an even uglier performance.
In the middle of the second quarter, with the Chiefs already down 10-0, Kelce matched up across from star pass rusher Josh Sweat.

Kelce, not known for his blocking prowess, allowed Sweat to blow right past him and sack quarterback Patrick Mahomes on back-to-back plays, effectively ending Kansas City’s chance of cutting the deficit on the drive, the New York Post noted.
And it wasn’t just Kelce’s blocking that seemed low-effort.
In the third quarter, with the Chiefs down 27-0, Mahomes came under pressure on second-and-4, scrambling out of the pocket while looking for an open man downfield.
Instead of trying to get open, Kelce appeared to give up on the play, standing still near midfield as Mahomes crossed the line of scrimmage in pursuit of a first down.
You can watch his horror show in the video player above.
Mahomes would eventually get hit by Oren Burks – who was standing next to the immobile Kelce during the play – and fumble, although would later be called back for a holding on the Chiefs.
It’s possible Kelce saw the flag and knew the play was coming back.
There has been much talk on if Kelce, 35, will retire this off-season after 12 seasons in the NFL. where he had career lows of 823 yards and three touchdowns this season.
During the latest “New Heights” podcast episode with his brother, Jason, the future Hall of Famer spoke of the “wear and tear” his body suffers on the football field but didn’t commit one way or another on a retirement decision.
Kelce, who has been with the Chiefs since 2013, refused to say if he’s hanging up his cleats for good.
“I’m going to take some time to figure it out,” he said. “I think I owe it to my teammates that if I do come back, it’s going to be something that — it’s a wholehearted decision.
“I’m not half-assing it. I’m fully here for them and I think I can play. It’s just whether or not I’m motivated or if it’s the best decision for me as a man, as a human, as a person to take on all that responsibility.”
Brother Jason retired last March after 13 seasons in the NFL with the Eagles.
“Preaching to the choir,” he said.
Kelce can kick the can down the road all he wants, but his retirement decision is coming for him sooner rather than later.
Retirement decisions are typically made before the new league year starts, which is March 12, and Kelce non-coincidentally has an $11.5 million roster bonus that is due to be paid out on March 14.
He is slated to make $19.5 million in 2025, the final season of his contract, according to Spotrac.
Knowing those March dates are looming, Kelce will need to decide if he’s more focused on football or his post-NFL life with billionaire music-mogul girlfriend Taylor Swift and surely plenty of media ventures.
