In a passage of play halfway through the opening quarter, Daicos extracted the ball from the centre bounce against Hawthorn at the MCG.

As he broke free he fed the ball out wide to his brother Josh before getting the ball back after a lofted handball.

After grabbing the ball and turning towards goal, the Brownlow Medal fancy assessed his options in the blink of an eye and delivered a kick that left two greats of the game in disbelief.

Daicos was around 80m or so away from goal with a plethora of players packed inside Collingwood’s forward 50, but that mattered little to the young star who pinpointed a kick into a pocket of space that didn’t look existent when it left his boot.

Collingwood forward Dan McStay ran hard out from the goalsquare and graciously accepted the uncontested chest mark.

“That is as good as you will see,” Garry Lyon said on Fox Footy.

Jason Dunstall added: “You can’t kick it any better. It’s not just the kick, it’s the vision.”

Unfortunately the Daicos magic didn’t rub off on McStay who couldn’t convert the shot on goal from directly in front.

“That’s a shame, the kick deserved better because their was a lot of traffic in between Daicos and McStay so it was also to have the vision and then to execute it and avoid all that traffic. Superb kick.” Dunstall said.

The vision and pinpoint kick from Daicos left footy fans watching on heaping praise on the 21-year-old.

One user wrote: “That kick from Daicos was unbelievable.”

A second added: “Nick Daicos unbelievable skills.”

A third wrote: “Nick Daicos has just made the best pass I’ve ever seen. The decision to even attempt that was exceptional.”

A fourth fan wrote: “That kick by Nick Daicos … You are kidding me.”

The moment however was the only highlight for the Pies in what was a horror first half against the Hawks.

As their finals hopes teeter on the brink, the Pies were run ragged by a resurgent Hawks outfit who ran away to hold the 7.8 (50) to 1.11 (17) lead at the main break.

After holding an 11 point advantage after the opening quarter, the Hawks put their foot down as the rain came pouring down at the MCG.

Their rampant pressure proved too much for the Pies as Sam Mitchell’s men kicked four goals to extend the margin out.

A loss for Collingwood would drop them to 13th on the ladder where they could be two games outside of the top eight by the end of the round.
