Channel 7 presenter Ryan Daniels has responded to criticism over an interview with a Fremantle star on Saturday night.

Fans watching the post-game coverage after the Dockers took care of the Western Bulldogs weren’t happy with one Daniels question to Andrew Brayshaw.

“You come out in that Derby, you get punched in the face by a young West Coast Eagles team. How do you turn it around in the space of a week?” Daniels asked.

Many fans believed the ‘punch in the face’ remark was in reference to when Brayshaw was hit by Andrew Gaff back in a 2018 Derby contest.

Daniels however cleared the air over the slip up, stating he wasn’t referencing the ugly incident.

“Yep, not my best. Poor choice of words. Was referencing the Derby, and being shell shocked by underdogs West Coast. Definitely no intent to infer anything relating to that incident. Think that goes without saying,” Daniels wrote on X in response to a user’s question.

The awkward encounter aside, everything went right for Fremantle in front of their home fans as they snapped a three-game losing streak.

Nat Fyfe wound back the clock as he showed signs of his absolute best as he racked up 37 disposals and a goal in his best outing since 2018.

AFL great Eddie Betts was full of praise for Fyfe’s efforts, which included a 22-disposal first half and a big goal before three-quarter time that gave his side some breathing space.

“He’s getting back to his best Nat Fyfe,” Betts said.

“He’s back to his Brownlow year the way he’s playing at the moment.

“He’s taken a contested marks, he missed an opportunity (in front of goal) … but getting around the ground, winning those balls and breaking those tackles.

“He’s absolutely dominating.”

While Fyfe, the veteran, was dominating … 20-year-old Patrick Voss had a dream moment less than three months after being given a lifeline by the Dockers.

In the second quarter the youngster was given his first look at goal and he didn’t hesitate to capitalise on the moment as his teammates mobbed him in celebration.

“How about that celebration?” former Docker Luke McPharlin praised on 6PR Radio.

“He really enjoyed that. Turned to the crowd and gave the big fist pump.”

“He finished it off beautifully,” Dockers great David Mundy added.

“He gave that celebration heaps and was exhausted after it!”
