A new hotel and entertainment precinct will be built on Milligan Street in the CBD.
The State Government will invest $110 million to help build the new precinct and hotel adjacent to Perth Arena.
Planning minister John Day said the development would complement Perth's biggest entertainment venue and was expected to create around 900 jobs.
"The hotel's convenient location will also entice international performers and tourists" Mr Day said.
The 4.5 star, 15-storey hotel will have 250 rooms and be part of the Avani brand.
More than 200 one and two bedroom serviced apartments will also be built as part of a 14-storey development.
The Minor International Group from Bangkok will develop the hotel and the serviced apartments.
There will be a roof top bar at the hotel and the new precinct will include restaurants, a public plaza and open lawns and paved areas.
Construction is due to start in late 2016.
