Western Australia's first drum lines have been been set in the South West on Saturday.
Nine News reporter Estelle Lewis, said the line was placed one kilometre off the Dunsborough coast.
"The fisherman has dropped one large hook, baited with three fish and they are in the water now."
She said the fisherman would continue up the coast to Castle Rock, Meelup and later on Gracetown.
"The fisherman has said he will monitor these baited hooks from 6am until 6pm every day, rebating when necessary and checking for attacks.
"If a tiger, bull or great white shark bigger than three metres is hooked it will be shot and disposed of out to sea, and if smaller than three metres it will be released."
The first drum lines in the metropolitan area are expected to be deployed on Monday.
