Shark-attack survivor Sean Pollard has returned home to messages of support from around the world after more than a month recovering in hospital.
Mr Pollard, 23, from Bunbury, was surfing at Wylie Bay in Esperance on Thursday October 2 when he was attacked, losing one arm and the other hand, and sustaining lacerations to his legs.
He returned home from Royal Perth Hospital on Thursday.
Messages of support flowed from afar.
"You are a very brave strong man! All the best and many greetings from Germany," a Facebook user posted.
Another said: "Hi from Canada. Keep going Sean. Stay by his side, Claire."
Mr Pollard's family and his partner Claire have expressed thanks to all those who have helped them through a difficult time.
The Department of Fisheries said based on the bite marks on Mr Pollard's surfboard it was likely that a great white shark was responsible for the attack
But there were reports Mr Pollard told those first on the scene he believed it had been two bronze whaler sharks that bit him.
Two great whites were subsequent caught and killed in the area near the attack.
