Monaro one step away from third straight NSW country champs final
He's got rugby league pedigree - with an American twist.
Sione Afemui is part of the Monaro Colts team looking for a spot in the NSW Country Championships under-23s final.
To get there, they have to beat the North Coast Bulldogs at Woy Woy on Saturday.
Monaro have been a benchmark of the competition, winning it in 2017 and finishing runner-up last year.
Afemui was born in the USA, but family got him into the game.
"It came through my uncle, who is an ex-NRL player," he said on Tuesday.
"Cooper Vuna used to play for the Newcastle Knights. I found an interest in how he was playing footy and just wanted to follow him."
