Rain aids Ginninderra's bid to end Cricket ACT drought
By Caden Helmers
The rain has fallen but the Ginninderra Tigers will still have to wait two more days before they can bring their Cricket ACT Douglas Cup drought to an end.
Play was abandoned without a ball bowled on day one of Cricket ACT's three-day decider between Ginninderra and Weston Creek Molonglo at Phillip Oval on Friday.
Ginninderra finished third while Creek finished fourth, meaning no result would gift the higher-ranked Tigers a premiership.
But the skies are expected to clear over the weekend to give both sides a shot at winning the title on the park - and if you ask either team, that's the way they'd prefer to get it.
Creek are looking to become the first team to win back-to-back Douglas Cups since Western District-UC achieved the feat in 2012-13 and 2013-14.
Weather permitting, play will begin 30 minutes earlier on day two as both sides look to make up for lost time.
CRICKET ACT DOUGLAS CUP GRAND FINAL
Continues Saturday-Sunday: Ginninderra Tigers v Weston Creek Molonglo at Phillip Oval, 10.30am.
