That’s stumps folks.
Australia ends the day on 7-405, Mitchell Starc and Alex Carey remain at the crease.
A dominant day of play for the Aussies after a tumultuous start where Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Usman Khawaja and Nathan McSweeney, but Travis Head and Steve Smith were able to lead to a strong finish.
That’s 400 runs for the Australian team.
Alex Carey has done a massive job getting the Aussies there, with 43 runs off 41 balls.
We probably have two overs left before stumps. At this rate, Carey will bring up 50 before the day is done.
Mohammed Siraj has been waiting all day for a wicket, and finally, his patience has paid off.
He claims the wicket of Aussie skipper Pat Cummins, and Mitchell Starc makes his way out to the crease.
We’re into the final half hour of play, and it looks like Australia will just try to bat through the rest of the day.
Alex Carey and Pat Cummins are still looking strong at the crease, and if they can somehow get this total close to 400, that will be an extremely successful day for the Australians.
Mohammed Siraj has the ball in hand, he’s 0-74 this innings, he’d love a wicket before stumps.
The Australians aren’t going down without a fight, Alex Carey and Pat Cummins are up for the challenge.
They’ve already added 23 to the Australian total, and we’re in for a few more with about 50 minutes of play left in the day.
Breakthrough for India, Travis Head is gone.
Once again it’s the magic of Jasprit Bumrah that does the trick, and the Australian batting order is quickly starting to crumble.
Alex Carey and Pat Cummins at the crease. We have just under an hour and a half left in the day, it looks likely the Australian quicks will get to have their turn tonight.
Mitch Marsh never looked comfortable at the crease, and Jasprit Bumrah removes him.
Once again, the safe hands of Virat Kohli take the catch – another outside edge that travelled through to the slips.
Marsh adds five to the Australian tally off 15 balls, Alex Carey the next man up. If India can keep this up, and by India I mean Bumrah, Australia might get a turn with the ball this afternoon, which might not be the worst thing.
And just like that, the Steve Smith fairytale is over.
Of course, Jasprit Bumrah is the man to do it, drawing Smith in to play outside off stump. The ball gets a good chunk of the outside edge and sails into the hands of Rohit Sharma.
Mitch Marsh is the next man to the crease as Travis Head draws close to 150.
It was a long time coming, but Steve Smith finally finds his century.
It’s been 26 innings since Smith had his last ton, but he’s just brought up his 33rd Test 100.
Meanwhile, his batting partner Travis Head is about to hit 150. But first, time for a drinks break.
