By Staff reporters

Collingwood premiership star Brayden Maynard was involved in a car accident on Thursday morning.

The Magpies said no one was injured in what football boss Charlie Gardiner described as “an unfortunate accident” involving another car.

“Fortunately, neither Brayden nor the passengers in the other vehicle were hurt in the accident,” Gardiner said.

“Speaking with Brayden this morning, this was an unfortunate accident, but thankfully he and the other driver and passenger were OK.”

The accident occurred at an intersection in Brighton, but police were not called.

A Magpies spokesperson said Maynard would train on Friday and is available to play Port Adelaide on Saturday night, when the club aims to atone for its loss to Greater Western Sydney in the opening round.

Maynard was involved in a car crash in January 2024 on the Mornington Peninsula Freeway. That accident, which occurred at about 6am, was described by the Magpies as “very minor” and nobody was hurt. Maynard missed training that day after the incident.
