The Block winners Mitch Edwards and Mark McKie have sold their luxury Sydney beachside escape just days after pulling it from auction.
The five-bedroom home in Newport, complete with high-end finishes and panoramic views, was set to fall under the hammer last Wednesday.
However, two days before the planned auction, the couple pulled the pin, citing global economic conditions affecting the sharemarket, and the domestic market fluctuations in the lead-up to the federal election, as the reasons for their decision.
Instead, the home was listed for private sale with a price of $3,890,000.
Edwards and McKie sold the property last Thursday to a couple from Sydney’s north shore for slightly under asking at $3.702 million.

The buyers inspected the home just once before returning and making a successful offer.
The property was sold through LJ Hooker Mona Vale’s Josephine Cowling.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to be handing over the keys for this wonderful property,” Edwards said in a statement.
“This home has been a real labour of love for us and we’re so happy to see it go to people who truly appreciate the vision.”

McKie added: “It’s always a little emotional saying goodbye to a home like this, but knowing it will be enjoyed and cherished for many years to come makes it incredibly rewarding.”
Work commitments have meant Edwards and McKie have spent more time in the city. They feel it’s time for another family to “enjoy it as much as we have”.
A spokesperson for the couple said they are “ready for a new adventure”.
“Prior to Newport, they had previously focused on city-based properties and city living, but after experiencing the northern beaches and loving it for the last five years, they are now looking with eyes wide open and are hunting for the right opportunity, rather than focusing their search on any particular area,” they told Domain.

Edwards and McKie bought the home in Newport in 2019 for $1.7 million.
In the almost six years since they moved in they have transformed the once-humble 1970s abode into a luxury retreat.
The renovation marks the couple’s first major renovation project since winning Australia’s No.1 renovation show.
Edwards and McKie made their television debut on the 2019 season of The Block, finishing fifth and taking home $384,000.
The pair returned to the franchise for the 2021 season, winning the show and $744,444.
Since 2005, they have renovated more than 20 properties, ranging from cosmetic changes to complete rip-outs and rebuilds.
