WA records six new COVID-19 cases after more infected travellers return home
By Lauren Pilat
Western Australia has recorded six new COVID-19 cases after an international flight arrived in Perth this week.
The four women and two men, aged between 40 and 64 years old, were all passengers on a flight from Dubai which touched down at Perth Airport on Wednesday.
All six are West Australians and returned travellers who presented positive test results following the WA Health screening conducted on day two of their arrival. They are all currently in hotel quarantine.
These new cases bring the state’s total to 618, nine of which are active.
The Department of Health is interviewing all passengers on the flight, who are also all in hotel quarantine, to determine if there were any close contacts to the newly diagnosed cases on board.
Flight details and the close contact rows in question have been uploaded on the HealthyWA website and can be viewed in the image below.
To date, 600 people have recovered from the virus in WA.
On Saturday, 290 people presented to WA COVID-19 clinics, and of those 282 were assessed and 280 were swabbed.
The new cases were recorded as Victoria recorded a further 74 cases, with public housing tenants in hard lockdown to receive hardship payments.
