A mine worker missing in WA’s Pilbara region has been found dead in his crashed car about 90 kilometres from Karratha.
Ambrose Walton, a 33-year-old Canadian national, had not been seen since he left Marandoo Mine Camp near Tom Price in a Schlam Engineering ute on Tuesday, bound for Rio Tinto’s Brockman 4 Camp.
A WA Police spokesman said Walton had arranged to meet a friend in Karratha at 2pm that same day, but did not arrive at that location either.
A police search was launched, but a spokesman said Walton’s vehicle was found crashed near an unsealed road about 90 kilometres from Karratha. Walton was found dead at the scene.
Karratha is about 530 kilometres north-west of Marandoo, while the Brockman 4 camp is 130 kilometres west of Marandoo.
The incident will be investigated by the police major crash investigations section.
