Perth neo-Nazi murderer planned to use ‘guerrilla warfare and guns’ in foiled prison break plot: police

By Heather McNeill

A neo-Nazi murderer serving a life sentence in a Perth prison allegedly plotted to escape custody using guns and “guerrilla warfare techniques” during an upcoming hospital visit.

Prisoner Robert Edhouse, 24, is accused of conspiring with fellow Aryan Nations member Corey Dymock, 24, to plan the jail break through a coded letter and telephone calls.

During a hearing in Perth Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, the police prosecutor said investigators intercepted the letter and decoded it to say, “If you are my bro, I need you to use the money to buy guns and break me out when I go to hospital for my operation”.

Police alleged Mr Dymock intended to extort $5000 from a man he and Edhouse believed ratted on them during their 2018 murder trial and use the cash to purchase guns.

The pair had also allegedly made plans to arrange for a vehicle and group of people to be at the hospital.

The court heard Edhouse was convicted of the 2016 murder of Alan Taylor and sentenced to a minimum of 21 years behind bars, while Mr Dymock was found guilty of the lesser charge of being an accessory to murder.

Mr Dymock was arrested on February 18 and a search of his home allegedly uncovered a note with a man’s address and ‘$5k’ written beside it.

“The accused made very little comment regarding the conversations he may or may not have had with Mr Edhouse,” the police prosecutor said.

“He said he had only had one conversation and wasn’t going to do anything, which was contrary to the prison records.”

Magistrate Tom Hall granted Mr Dymock bail after viewing transcripts of some of the phone calls.

“I am not satisfied it’s necessarily a strong case, conspiracy charges are sometimes difficult to prove, they’re complicated,” he said.

“There’s certainly things said by Mr Edhouse ... a lot of the conversation is Mr Edhouse.”

Mr Dymock’s lawyer, Kate Pearson, said her client would be fighting the charge against him – conspiracy to commit an indictable offence – as he never intended to carry out the plot.

She said Mr Dymock and Edhouse had known each other since childhood but were no longer close, and Mr Dymock claimed to no longer be involved with Aryan Nations.

As part of his bail conditions, Mr Dymock must report to a police station daily, remain in WA and not have contact with Mr Edhouse or any other affiliates of Aryan Nations.

Mr Dymock has been held in Hakea Prison in protective custody since his arrest five weeks ago due to concerns for his safety.

He is scheduled to next appear in court in June.

Edhouse will front court in May.

Both are yet to enter pleas.
