A 10-year-old child has been left with critical injuries after a car was involved in a head-on collision in Baldivis on Sunday evening, shortly after the driver allegedly tried to evade police.
The incident unfolded about 6pm when police attempted to perform a routine traffic stop on a Ford Falcon travelling on Duckpond Road.
The head-on collision involved two young children.
Police allege the 29-year-old driver refused to stop and drove off, heading south along the road.
A 32-year-old woman and two boys, aged 10 and eight, were passengers at the time.
The car then crashed head-on with a Mitsubishi ute that was travelling along Mundijong Road.
The 60-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi was taken to Rockingham Hospital for treatment, while the alleged driver of the Ford and his female passenger were taken to Royal Perth Hospital and Fiona Stanley Hospital, respectively.
Major crash is investigating the crash, which saw a 10-year-old boy airlifted to hospital.
The 10-year-old boy was airlifted to Perth Children’s Hospital with critical injuries.
The eight-year-old boy was uninjured.
The 29-year-old man allegedly behind the wheel of the Ford has been charged with several offences, including reckless driving, dangerous driving, no authority to drive and using an unlicensed car on a road.
He will appear before Rockingham Magistrates Court on Monday.
