Fire crews arrived on the scene just after 8.30am and quickly confirmed there was no fire.

“This was a false alarm,” a Fire Rescue Victoria spokesperson said.

Parliament station has now reopened to commuters and trains resumed running through the City Loop just after 9am.

Delays have cleared on all metropolitan lines and the Metro Trains timetable is running on schedule.
