The Block star Suzi Taylor’s escort texts revealed in extortion trial
The texts between former The Block TV star-turned-escort Suzi Taylor and her co-accused on the night they allegedly extorted Ms Taylor’s date and tied him up in their Brisbane unit have been revealed.
Ms Taylor, whose name is Suellen Jan Taylor, 50, and Ali Ebrahimi, 24, are charged with deprivation of liberty, extortion, fraud, attempted fraud and assault occasioning bodily harm. Both have pleaded not guilty.
The incident allegedly occurred at Ms Taylor and Mr Ebrahimi’s three-bedroom riverfront apartment in New Farm on October 30, 2019.
Alleged victim David Butler, who was 33 at the time, told the Brisbane District Court on Friday that when he refused to pay for Ms Taylor’s services, Mr Ebrahimi entered the room and attacked him.
Ms Taylor and Mr Ebrahimi claim there was an agreement with Mr Butler. Mr Butler initially claimed there was no discussion about payment, then he conceded there may have been an agreement regarding money for sex.
“Ali, he’s got no money,” Mr Butler said Ms Taylor called out.
“Ali grabbed me by the throat and pulled me out into the kitchen ... When I started resisting he was punching me and kicking me.”
Ms Taylor and Mr Ebrahimi are accused of taking Mr Butler’s phone to access an online banking app and stealing one of his bank cards.
Police forensic analysts recovered texts between Mr Ebrahimi and Ms Taylor. All were sent by Mr Ebrahimi to Ms Taylor, except for one message Ms Taylor sent back to him saying: “Message me”.
“Been 30min [minutes], confirm and get paid if you haven’t.
“1hr [hour].
“He needs to pay, f--- this c--- and his f----- caravan $$$.
“Keys in drawer honey, bring shoes, take him [to] bed, I’ll run out [to the] balcony.
“Message me [Ms Taylor to Mr Ebrahimi].
“Behind door.
“He’s paying? 2.5hr [hours] on [the] clock.
“Make sure he pays every hour, don’t be too nice, your [sic] working.
“G2g [got to go].
“3 hrs [hours], stay on top [of] payment, business is not being too nice honey.
“Babe, 3.5hrs [hours], he needs to pay.
“If you don’t ask I’m charging out.
“I can’t believe this shit, you can’t bring yourself to ask.
“R U f---en pissed aks [sic] the c---.”
Mr Butler admitted to lying in parts of his original police statement and previous testimony to the Brisbane Magistrates Court regarding the incident, when cross-examined on Friday.
The court was told Ms Taylor’s rates for her services were $250 for 30 minutes or $500 for one hour. It was alleged the agreement between Ms Taylor and the victim was $250 for 30 minutes.
The court heard Mr Butler had $250 in cash in his wallet that night, which was missing when he went to make a police complaint the next morning.
Mr Butler was asked to confirm he spent six hours with Ms Taylor.
“Yes, but I was tied up for most of that ... I did defecate myself while I was tied up,” he said.
The court heard an iPhone charging cable was used to restrain Mr Butler’s wrists. He suffered minor cuts and abrasions, as well as shoulder, neck and back pain.
The trial was due to continue on Monday and conclude on Tuesday.
