Teens charged over alleged stabbing of ‘good Samaritan’ in Valley

Two teenagers have been charged over an early morning stabbing in Fortitude Valley that left a man fighting for life.

The alleged attack occurred on the corner of Brunswick Street and Wickham Street about 3.40am on Friday, reportedly near the Prince Consort Hotel.

The 21-year-old victim was reportedly stabbed multiple times in his chest.

He was found by paramedics in a life-threatening condition with “significant” wounds, the Queensland Ambulance Service said.

Two men allegedly fled on foot. The 18-year-olds were arrested about one kilometre away on Costin Street.

No police tape or signs of the alleged crime were visible about six hours later, with restaurant owners collecting produce and traffic at the intersection heavy as normal.

Staff at nearby businesses were told they were not allowed to comment.

Nine News reported the injured man was a “good Samaritan” attempting to break up a fight when he was attacked.

The stabbed man remains at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, in a “serious but stable” condition.

An 18-year-old from Zillmere was charged with grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning bodily harm, being armed to cause fear and possession of a knife in public.

Another 18-year-old, from Bald Hills, was charged with intending to cause grievous bodily harm.

They are both due to appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court on Saturday.
