Teen critical, two others injured, after crash in Sydney’s south-west

Three teens have been injured, one critically, after the car they were travelling in collided with a vehicle then hit a tree and burst into flames.

Police said that about 9.50pm on Friday, a Subaru Impreza and a Lexus collided on King Georges Road in Roselands, in Sydney’s south-west.

The blue Subaru then lost control and mounted the kerb, hitting a tree and catching on fire, before several onlookers helped pull the teenagers out of the car.

Roseland resident Michael Rose heard the crash and told Nine News he, another man and his brother Robert helped pull the teens from the burning car.

“A lot of people were worried the car was going to explode,” he said.

“I pulled the girl out straight away, ran around to the passenger [but had a hard time getting her out due to the seatbelt],” he said. “[Then] this head popped out from between the airbags. [She] was yelling, ‘Please mate get me out.’ ”

Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the blaze before it spread to nearby properties.

The Subaru driver, an 18-year-old woman, was treated by paramedics for chest and pelvic injuries before being taken to Liverpool Hospital, where she remains in a serious but stable condition tonight.

Two female passengers – aged 17 and 18 – were treated for chest and leg injuries. They were both taken to St George Hospital, where the 18-year-old remains in a critical condition, while the 17-year-old is in a serious but stable condition.

The driver and sole occupant of the Lexus, a 28-year-old man, was uninjured. He was taken to Canterbury Hospital to undergo mandatory testing.

A 41-year-old man – who assisted at the scene – was treated for smoke inhalation before later attending hospital for treatment.
