An elderly man has died almost two weeks after a suspected hit-and-run in Epping, in Sydney’s north-west, as police search for the driver.
About 7.45pm on March 6, a resident on Boronia Avenue heard a loud noise and came out to find a 78-year-old man lying unconscious on the road.
Police and NSW Ambulance paramedics rendered assistance until a medical team was brought in by helicopter that landed on a tennis court in Grant Close.
The Epping man was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition with severe head and internal injuries.
Officers from the crash investigation unit established that a light-coloured sedan was driving along Boronia Avenue about the time the man was believed to have been struck.
The man died in hospital about 3.20pm on Sunday.
Officers are appealing for the driver of the car, or anyone who saw the car or has dashcam vision that may be relevant, to notify the crash investigation unit or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
