Rock fisher dies after being pulled from the water at Narrabeen

By Megan Gorrey

A man, believed to be aged in his 70s, has died after he fell into the ocean while rock fishing on the northern beaches on Sunday morning.

Police and paramedics were called to Turimetta Headland at Narrabeen following reports a fisherman had fallen into the water about 10.45.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter crew winched the man – who was wearing a life vest – from the water before flying him to Pittwater “Rat” Park at Warriewood.

Paramedics tried unsuccessfully to resuscitate him.

He is yet to be formally identified.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
