Taxi driver critical after being trapped by car on Sydney’s lower north shore
A taxi driver is being treated at Royal North Shore Hospital for critical injuries after being struck by a LandCruiser in Gladesville on Sydney’s lower north shore on Thursday evening.
Emergency services were called to Victoria Road at Frank Street about 10.30pm on Thursday to reports of a pedestrian hit by a car.
“Police were told a 30-year-old man was standing at the rear of his vehicle after stopping on Victoria Road, near the intersection of Frank Street, when he was struck,” police said in a statement.
“The man was pinned against his vehicle by the Landcruiser before being freed by Fire and Rescue NSW.”
He was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital via ambulance in a critical condition with serious internal and leg injuries.
The 25-year-old driver of the LandCruiser was taken to Ryde Hospital for mandatory testing.
“A crime scene was established and the Crash Investigations Unit commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident,” police said.
The driver was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm. His licence was also suspended, and the man was granted bail to appear in Hornsby Local Court in December.
