A woman has died while swimming at a NSW South Coast beach on Australia Day.
Emergency workers were called to Short Point Beach at Merimbula about 4pm on Sunday after reports a woman had been pulled unconscious from the water.
Police said lifeguards and paramedics were unable to revive the 54-year-old French national, who died at the scene.
