On call
It was fascinating reading about producer Jodi Matterson [October 14] – we so rarely hear about the people behind the scenes of our TV productions. It tends to be all about the stars who, after all, as important as they are, mostly come into a production when it’s ready to shoot, after all the hard, foundation work – financing, script writing and editing, set design and location – has been done. I’m a big fan of Australian productions – how good was The Dry (one of Matterson’s cinema productions) and The Newsreader on ABC? These shows shone because of fantastic writing – storytelling – and great performances. The same can’t be said of the writing in some other Australian productions, however, which have been pretty unwatchable. But the main thing is Australian productions keep rolling along nicely, and as a result, can only get better.

Recipe: chocolate and almond pasticcini
Special thanks to Julia Busuttil Nishimura for her luscious recipe for chocolate and almond pasticcini [October 14]. This is definitely a recipe to add to my collection of favourites, and I suspect that I’ll need a lock and key on my pantry if they’re to last a week. Chocolate and almond pasticcini and coffee – simply perfect!

The scoop might have outed Banksy, but I had second thoughts
Great story – thanks to Nick Bryant. Bigger thanks for Banksy’s identity remaining a state secret. Having lived in Bristol for a short time it was a moment of pleasure heading back to Temple Meads Station, looking up and seeing one of his earlier works on a wall. Free for all the world to see. To whose advantage would it be for you to spoil the fun? Banksy’s anonymity is far more interesting than his identity, and I’m sure his work doesn’t suffer from it either. The mural in question also demonstrates the advantages of not living in a world where we contact Banksy for his comments on this or that, but allow him to speak unbidden and remind us of what we have forgotten. Phew! I’m glad you made the right call, Nick. Let Banksy do Banksy in peace and we all benefit. mumbojumbo
I believe in Santa Claus, Batman and Banksy. eMs
And the BBC 100 per cent did the right thing. A little miracle and wonder in our lives that hurts no one. Long may Banksy remain anonymous. KiwiDamo
