Burwood Council: What your candidates said

Tucked in between the inner west and Strathfield is Burwood Council, where residents will vote for the councillors, and the mayor, they want for the next four years.

Unlike other councils, Burwood has no ward system. There are six councillors and a directly elected mayor. Labor holds three seats, the Liberals hold two and the Greens hold one, with the mayor John Faker being Labor too.

There are 17 candidates up for election at Burwood Council this term. The current mayor, John Faker, was the only person to respond to the Herald’s questions.

His response has been lightly edited for clarity.

We asked candidates where they stood on key policy issues they’re likely to vote on while in office, and what they thought about the current state of council services. Click the below buttons to see the results.
