The Paris prosecutors office told the publication that local police would investigate.

The attack was said to have taken place at the Boulevard de Clichy, a famous street in the 18th arrondissement near the Moulin Rouge nightclub.

The Australian woman did not speak French, Le Figaro reported, and was found wandering outside the kebab restaurant around 5am on Sunday.

Police were told her dress was inside out.

Local police and a fire crew took the woman to the nearby Bichat hospital. No arrests have been made.

She was unable to tell police specifics about the location or circumstances surrounding the alleged attack.
