Want to be the Queen’s neighbour? Now you can, for a majestic price

By James Robinson

A beautiful 19th century home built within the Queen’s 80,937,128-square-metre Royal Sandringham Estate has been listed for sale.

For the princely sum of (£1,195,000) AUD$2.1 million, you could be veritable neighbours with the Queen of England and live on Her Majesty’s grounds.

Built in 1898, the elegant home sits directly next to the now-disused Wolferton station, which, once upon a time, was for private use by the Windsors to travel to their holiday home in Norfolk.

The charming abode belonged to the station master until the royal station was decommissioned in 1969.

Station House, as it is known, boasts three bedrooms, two bathrooms and an abundance of features.

A Grade II listed property, the home’s exterior presents as a gorgeous example of period styling, while its terrace affords occupants stunning, sweeping views of the verdant countryside.

Inside, the home blends old-world elegance with modern conveniences, with the kitchen featuring a particularly cool AGA cooker.

Station House isn’t entirely unique, however.

When Wolferton Station was shut down, the railway stop comprised four separate buildings, which were all subdivided and sold as separate properties.

According to selling agents Sowerby’s, the residence presents as a “magnificent example of a beautiful home capturing the nostalgia of a bygone era”.

The buyer of this home will live just 3.2 kilometres away from the Queen, whenever Her Majesty is holidaying at Sandringham House.
