Channel Seven sports reporter Dylan Howard has been cleared by a police investigation into the stolen medical records of two AFL players.
Howard and the station were notified by police this week that no charges would be laid over the scandal.
Seven broadcast a story about the files - which contain confidential details of two unnamed players' drug use - last September.
The story led to a player backlash, with several prominent players threatening to boycott the network altogether.
Seven News chief and Howard were interviewed by detectives following the broadcast but have been told charges will not be laid.
Robert Crouch, 37, and Catherine Mitchell, 32, both of Ivanhoe, pleaded guilty to the files' theft by finding in August.
Mitchell claimed to have found the manila folder containing the records on an Ivanhoe street on her way home from work on August 24.
She rang her boyfriend, Crouch, and they approached the network to buy them for $300 with a promise from howard of $2700 more.
They were convicted and sentenced to a 12-month good behaviour bond and fined $300.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman confirmed today that charges would not proceed over the matter.
