Inside a stylish couple’s knock-down rebuild in Melbourne’s south-east
Starting from scratch with a rebuild created the perfect home for this couple and their growing family.
By Heather Nette King
The home
A two-storey, four-bedroom contemporary house in Melbourne’s south-east with three living areas, a study and a swimming pool.
Who lives here
Aimee Tarulli, stylist and founder of Archer Interiors, her husband Frank, a director of Thomas Archer Homes, and their children Leo, 9, and Rosie, 7.
What we did
“Frank and I found an unliveable house on the best street, demolished it, then built a home that is perfectly tailored to our lifestyle,” says Aimee.
My favourite room
“The formal lounge, as I love the mix of wall textures and the sunken floor,” says Aimee. “It grabs your attention the moment you step in the front door.”
The ’hood
“We’re close to the beach and there are excellent cafes within walking distance – there’s a great buzz here,” says Aimee.
Future plans
“We are planning another build in bayside Melbourne and hope to do it all again soon.”
Best advice
“Don’t feel you can’t have nice furniture because you have kids,” says Aimee. “If you’re clever with fabric and material choices you can enjoy what you want now.”
