Fresh additions to Australia’s most-wanted list: the latest in clever, covetable design.
Remove the need for decorative lamps with the E27 light by cult Scandinavian brand Muuto. Designer Mattias Ståhlbom decided the simplicity of the naked bulb was too hard to compete with, so turned his attention to the socket instead. To contrast the shiny bulb, he created the fitting in matte silicon rubber, with a matching cord available in a selection of colours. You can hang one light on its own, or create a contemporary chandelier-style cluster for extra impact.

Melbourne store Scout House stocks a selection of festive plates from Bitossi Home. For an eclectic table setting, mix and match with other pieces from the Scout House range, such as Falcon Enamelware from the UK, Cornishware pottery and diamond-engraved glassware from Europe. Store owner Orlando Mesiti combines vintage goods, 20th-century design pieces and locally made bespoke furniture in a store that’s vastly different to those found in your average shopping mall.

These tri-coloured lenses present three different ways to orient your world view. Look up while humming the lyrics “The future’s so bright, I gotta wear shades”, gaze straight ahead to see the world through rose-coloured glasses, or look down for unobstructed, crystal-clear vision. By France’s Isabel Marant, they’re available from Sydney boutique For Artists Only.

Pre-ordering a pair of kicks is part of the fun in the sneaker world, which three-year-old Brazilian brand Cariuma understands well. Its eco shoes are made in small batches with wait lists of up to 16,000 people. The materials and production host a long list of sustainable accreditations; in 2020 the company started its own Brazilian rainforest reforestation program. An email sign-up plants one tree. A shoe purchase plants two. That’s three trees for your first purchase.
