Taylor Swift tickets are back on sale. Here’s what you need to know
By Martin Boulton and Nell Geraets
Taylor Swift fans left wanting after previous sales are trying desperately to secure tickets to the pop star’s Eras Tour in February, as the official resale site opens today.
Slight differences on its loading page has some fans questioning whether the site has crashed. However, Ticketek says it hasn’t. Here’s everything you need to know.
Swifties will need a lot of luck on their side, as demand will be high and success relies mostly on being at the right place (Ticketek Marketplace) at the right time (any time). The good news: While it varies slightly from state to state, Australian governments have strict laws against scalping. In Victoria and New South Wales, where Swift will perform next year, selling tickets to the Eras Tour at over 10 per cent more than its original value is illegal.
The only way to avoid getting scammed or becoming a victim of scalpers is to buy tickets through the Ticketek Marketplace resale platform.
When does the ticket resale for Taylor Swift’s Australian tour begin?
The official listing and resale of tickets began on Friday at 10am (AEDT).
Where can resale tickets be purchased?
The only official resale platform for Taylor Swift concert tickets is Ticketek Australia’s online website, Ticketek Marketplace.
Will tickets be available to purchase straight away?
An online waiting room, also used for previous Swift ticket sales, will be the first step in the process. According to Ticketek, the online “lounge” is again being used to help manage demand. Tickets will only become available to purchase if current ticket holders decide to resell them on the Marketplace website. There is no certainty how many tickets will be available to purchase, and somebody can decide to sell their tickets at any time, day or night.
Why isn’t the Marketplace loading bar moving?
The online lounge for previous Swift ticket sales indicated precisely when the next update would occur. The Marketplace lounge operates slightly differently. Its loading bar indicates a customer’s place in the queue, updating as more fans gain access to the site to list or buy tickets.
Some fans expressed concern over the seemingly static loading bar on Friday morning, questioning on social media whether the site had crashed or frozen. However, the Ticketek office advised this masthead that everything was running to plan.
“The Marketplace site is working properly,” Ticketek Australia wrote to a worried fan on X (formerly Twitter). “The blue bar on the Marketplace lounge pages is a progress bar and indicates your place for entry into the site. It will move as more fans go through to list/buy tickets.”
Can the Marketplace site be refreshed?
Refreshing the Marketplace lounge page does not cause any progress to be lost.
How much time can be spent on the Marketplace site once past the lounge?
Once through to the resale site, customers will have 20 minutes to list or buy tickets.
How long will Marketplace remain open for the resale of Taylor Swift tickets?
Ticket sellers can offer tickets for sale until the date of the concert. VIP packages and combined hotel and ticket packages can only be sold between November 24 and December 15.
How much will a ticket on Marketplace cost?
The cost of tickets sold earlier this year ranged from $79.90 to $379.00, excluding VIP packages. A resale ticket can be sold for no more than 10 per cent above the original cost. Marketplace will enforce that resold tickets are capped at 10 per cent above the ticket’s face value.
What will a Marketplace ticket look like?
Tickets originally sold through Ticketek will be reissued with a new barcode and have your name on them. The original ticket will become void to ensure you are the only holder of the ticket.
Why use Marketplace to buy a Taylor Swift ticket?
Simple: Ticketek Marketplace is the only official place to buy and sell tickets to ensure you’re not scammed.
When will tickets be delivered?
Tickets will be uploaded to your Marketplace account or emailed to you, and can be printed at home. Tickets will generally be sent immediately, or within 48 hours of purchase.
Can tickets bought on the official resale website be refunded or exchanged?
No. Marketplace does not own the tickets and does not offer refunds or exchanges. However, If the event is cancelled or rescheduled, Ticketek Marketplace will refund the amount paid for the ticket.
Will tickets bought on Marketplace have any restrictions?
Some tickets may have a restricted, obstructed, rear or side view, or be in an alcohol-free area. You can see these restrictions by selecting “additional details” before purchasing to ensure you’re happy with your seat.
Swift performs in Melbourne on February 16, 17 and 18, and Sydney on February 23, 24, 25 and 26.
