Tasmania has emerged as a premier destination for high-end travel, with visitors increasingly ranking the state on their luxury holiday to-do listsThese are some of the top luxury stays.

AVALON COASTAL RETREAT

A waterfront lodge high on a headland on the east coast, south of Swansea, an overnight stay here costs about $1050.

A celebration of nature and architecture, the property has a chef’s kitchen, a hand-carved Huon pine bath with a view, and a private beach.

PUMPHOUSE POINT

A unique adults-only property poised on a glacial lake, the Pumphouse is an intimate retreat in the heart of World Heritage wilderness at Lake St Clair.

There are 19 guest rooms, from $560 to $1750 per night, all-inclusive. There is a minimum two-night stay.

This historic hotel in the remote fishing village of Stanley has been transformed into a stylish seven-suite boutique guesthouse.
