Young driver clocked at 184km/h on busy Hobart thoroughfare

Police are chasing witnesses to an alleged dangerous driving incident on a busy Hobart highway involving a “family mover”, with seven people and a pet on-board.

POLICE are chasing witnesses to an alleged dangerous driving incident on Hobart’s Southern Outlet involving a “family mover” with seven people and a pet on-board.

Police claim a young driver was clocked driving at 184km/h in the 100km/h zone on the outlet on Sunday around 10am.

Police claim the driver, a 23-year-old Hobart man, was behind the wheel of Kia Carnival eight-seater vehicle which was carrying seven passengers and a dog.

The driver will be summonsed to appear at the Hobart Magistrates Court at a later date.

Police reminded motorists that travelling at excessive speed is one of the main

contributing factors to serious and fatal crashes.
